One of my favorite songwriters came by Locals Only this week. David Bazan was in studio to talk about reviving Pedro The Lion and his new album Phoenix.
It's been 15 years since the last Pedro The Lion album, Achilles Heel, was released and just like anything else David Bazan makes, I am all the way in!
Bazan talked about his new album being about his time living in Phoenix, AZ and how there are four more Pedro The Lion albums on the way that will all be about places he lived.
We played three new Pedro The Lion songs including the unreleased track "Quietest Friend" which Bazan says represented the finish line of this album to him as it was the last song he wrote for the album. It is a very, VERY good song. He also handpicked some great songs from Locals Only favorites like Cumulus, Spirit Award, Monsterwatch, Silver Torches, and Mount Erie.
You can (and should) get the new Pedro The Lion album Phoenix on January 18th from Polyvinyl Records.
