For the last year I have been getting the occasional email from local artist Andrea Volpato about his solo project Painted Vein. Each time the music has been good and I have been happy to play it on Locals Only, including his cover of "Something In The Way" by Nirvana.
Well, last week Andrea sent me the latest Painted Vein single and it hit me a little a differently. The track called "My Well" instantly grabbed me as I listened to it over and over again.

Painted Vein is the music project of the musician, producer, and audio engineer Andrea Fox Volpato, who has spent the last 10 years brewing the material for his solo project by collaborating in writing, recording, and touring the world with bands from around the globe.
Andrea also recorded, mixed and produced the albums "Euphoric Recall" and "Jaywalker" of the Seattle artist MØAA and co-wrote with duet vocals on their hit single “X Marks”. He then toured as the lead guitarist and vocalist across Europe where he shared the stage with Yves Tumor and played in festivals live Ypsigrock in Sicily and MIL in Lisbon, as well as toured several times the United States including an official showcase at SXSW.
Prior to that he was the drummer of the Italian noise-rock band Love In Elevator with whom he toured Europe and opened for bands like Shellac, Mudhoney and Refused.
His debut album “Dripping Only Black” captures the culmination of his experience over the last ten years as a musician and illuminates the skills of his writing and production when he is solely behind the creative wheel. Every instrument on the record was written, performed, produced, recorded and mixed by himself in his recording studios in Venice, Italy and Seattle. The album will be released on November 15th, 2024 via WWNBB and AWAL.
