The Tulip Festival is back!

This year's changes may even be better in some ways.

After a devastating 2020, good news from the tulip fields of Skagit Valley - both Rozengaarde and Tulip Town will welcome humans back to the oddly muddy yet compact grounds to see a spectacle we're lucky to behold so close to home.

Like many other institutions we love crowding into, things will be different this time with timed pre-purchased tickets keeping the numbers to a reasonable level - which as a spectator sounds awesome, but understandably will potentially continue to make things difficult for these businesses.

I wonder if the line of cars backed up to I-5 and crawling down the interstate to the event will be lessened by the timed tickets? And if so, will that be a huge relief for the people who live by these farms who have their yards peed on and littered by unimaginable wait times?

Rozergaarde does tons of business as tulips.com, but Tulip Town sold to a local group of high school friends turned business owners during the summer preceding the pandemic and they never got to see their fields enjoyed. That's five million flowers with only the eyes of their caretakers and online streamers to take them in in 2020.

KING-5 goes into more details here. I for one can't wait to get out there and see some tulips... and other humans!
