Brought back together by a family wedding, Good Charlotte are ready for their return after 7 years away. First today with the new single, "Rejects," and the full album, Motel Du Cap, arriving everywhere on August 8. The brothers Madden, Joel and Benji, stopped by the studios of KROQ in Los Angeles to talk with Kevin Ryder and Megan Holiday about how it all came together, and what to expect from their latest effort.

"We really found through our lives that when we did what we felt we should do, it always worked out," explains Benji. "When we did what we thought we should do, or we listened to maybe someone we didn't want to let them down or something, it didn't really work that well, right? So it wasn't really for us. So we just decided just in life we just have to do what we feel."
"And we felt like making a record and calling it 'Motel Du Cap,'" adds Joel.
After getting GC together to play a family wedding at the actual Hotel du Cap in France, they realized they wanted to follow that feeling, and still had things to say. "You have to wait for the feeling," Benji adds. "So then we left there and it wasn't like right away. It was like something we said that night and then it just kind of grew, and then the feeling just came and then you've got some things to say. Then you start, little songs start coming up, you know, and then yeah."
"I think at this stage, we made a record we love and it feels like it's icing on the cake," explains Joel of the group's mentality. "We hope people enjoy it, but we really like it."
