
Knowing the power that music holds, musical instrument retailer Guitar Center has announced a new program that offers to replace instruments and gear destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires.

Last week, Los Angeles began experiencing a total of five concurrent wildfires in several neighborhoods that at the latest tally has forced the evacuation of over 180,000 residents, resulted in 24 confirmed deaths, and a reported 16 missing people.
Guitar Center, together with its Guitar Center Music Foundation are now accepting applications for special one-time grants to replace destroyed instruments and/or gear. The initiative runs through February 28th, 2025 and is open only to Los Angeles-based musicians and music instruction programs.
Eligible music programs will have to classify as one of the following — In-school music classes in which the students make music, after-school music programs that are not run by the school, community music programs that offer music instruction to the community or music therapy programs in which the participants actively make music.
In order to qualify for the grant, musicians and programs may have to provide proof of loss or address, and will have to set up an account to apply, with a $1,500 cap for each applicant.

Also offering assistance with instrument replacement and repair as well as a number of other immediate and long-term services for musicians impacted by the wildfires. The Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort To Support Music Professionals impacted by the crisis, committed to providing $1,500 in financial relief and $500 grocery cards to music professionals affected by the wildfires.
