Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard joins the Kyle Meredith With... podcast this week, giving an update on the next PJ album, currently in the works with super-producer Andrew Watt, as well as a forthcoming final album with his band Brad.

The follow-up to Pearl Jam's 2020 album Gigaton is "getting close to the finish line," according to the founding guitarist. “We’re getting closer and closer, it’s gonna be a good one,” Gossard tells Meredith.
Producer Andrew Watt is at the helm this time around, as was revealed by frontman Eddie Vedder back in 2022, known for his GRAMMY-winning work with Ozzy Osbourne, as well as Justin Bieber, Elton John, and tons of others, including, as it turns out, the PJ frontman on his 2022 solo offering, Earthling.
Watt, Gossard says, is the "most hardcore Pearl Jam fan you’ll ever meet. He can play all of our songs, and all of Soundgarden’s songs back at us — better than we can play them... It’s been such a joy to make a record with him. He’s energizing us."
"He’s a fan club member, he’s seen the band 50 times," Gossard adds. "But he is also a top-flight pop producer.”
Gossard's other band, Brad, is also getting set to release their first new album in 11 years. In the Moment That You’re Born, will arrive on July 28 featuring a number of tracks with late singer Shawn Smith, who passed away in 2019. Additionally, Brad will reissue a 30th-anniversary vinyl edition of their 1993 debut Shame on the same date.
