Wally Zimolong Updates MontCo Sunshine Act Case
Wally Zimolong, long-time friend of the Dom Giordano Program, returns to the show to update the audience on a case involving parents in Montgomery County who hope to have their children remain in schools in the weeks surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. On November 13, the county’s Board of Health voted to require all K-12 public and private school students to learn virtually from the 23rd until December 6th in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. The lawsuit looks to get the decision invalidated by claiming the county officials violated PA’s Sunshine Act, failing to provide public notice more than 24 hours prior to the meeting. The suit also alleges multiple other violations of the act, including the failure to publish notice of the event in a newspaper, limiting public comment.
