Dawn Stensland anchors the local newscasts at the :15 and :45 of every hour and is an Emmy Award winning television journalist, anchor & host who has worked at CBS News in New York, Philadelphia & Chicago. Dawn earned success as a news reporter in cities across America. Since 1997, Dawn has worked as an anchor, host and reporter on TV and radio in Philadelphia and New York and has repeatedly won Philadelphia Magazine’s ‘Best of Philly’ honors.
In 2001, Dawn became the anchor of “Fox Philadelphia’s 10 O’Clock News Hour” launching two new state of the art studios and celebrating the stations highest ratings and key demographics in station history. Dawn’s 8 years at Fox also included live field anchoring during major breaking news, The RNC, Eagles and Phillies Championships. Dawn also created and produced her own popular segment “Fox Unsolved” which highlighted forgotten “cold” cases. Dawn worked with the Crime Commission and Detectives to turn up new tips on those unsolved crimes.
That belief in “solution based” television became the foundation for the 2012 debut of “The Dawn Show”, an ‘all live and all local’ talk show on WMCN TV, Philadelphia’s Lenfest Broadcasting Company. It’s a friendly, informative, empowering talk show that shines a light on solutions rather than problems. Dawn has interviewed hundreds of our regions top innovators, doctors, chefs and motivators.
In the Fall of 2014, Dawn was named Adjunct Professor of Journalism at La Salle University in Philadelphia.
Dawn has dedicated more than 20 years to “giving back”. She serves on the Boards of the Police Athletic League and The HEADstrong Foundation (battling childhood cancer). Dawn is deeply involved in charities and non-profits such hosting events and volunteering for Mission Kids, Alzheimer’s Association, ALS, Autism Speaks, March of Dimes, CHOP, Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Susan G. Koman/Breast Cancer Awareness, Ronald McDonald House, Career Wardrobe, Schuylkill Nature Center, ML Animal Rescue and PAWS.
Dawn is also a married ‘soccer Mom’ with 2 little boys & a rescue dog Buddy
