Former United States Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, joined Rich Zeoli on TalkRadio 1210 WPHT to discuss the issue of school choice here in Pennsylvania and across the nation as more parents pull their children out of the public school systems. The misuse of public funds is palpable and it is undermining the traditional public system. DeVos also discussed the dangers behind indoctrinating ideas such as Critical Race Theory.

“School choice is on the march. There have been over 13 states that have expanded or started new programs just in the calendar year alone. Just in the last week, I believe that number has been added to 3 or 4 more states. As sessions come to an end, these issues are very much in the forefront of Governors and legislators minds and kids are going to benefit as a result.”

DeVos continued, “It’s exciting to see the expansion of the choice program [in Pennsylvania]. Even Governor Wolf has realized that this is what parents are demanding and what kids need after vetoing legislation just a couple of years ago.”

DeVos was also critical of public schools that have decided to push for the controversial critical race theory curriculum, despite receiving pushback from parents.

“Parents are realizing what has been going on in far too many school systems and school classrooms and they are, rightfully,  raising their voices and taking matters into their own hands.”

Devos concluded by saying “If there is any systematic racism anywhere in this country. We see it in the K-12 system that has kept way too many kids captive to schools that simply do not work for them, to a system that is bent on serving itself, not the kids they’re supposed to be serving.”
