Daniel Ortner On First Amendment Supreme Court Case, Mahanoy v. B.L.

Daniel Ortner, attorney for Pacific Legal Foundation, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss an Amicus Brief he co-authored pertaining to a supreme court case, Mahanoy Area School District v. B.L. As a high-school sophomore, B.L. was upset when she failed to make the varsity cheerleading team. While at the mall with friends, B.L. vented her frustrations by posting to snapchat a picture with the caption “F*** school, f*** softball, f*** cheer, f*** everything.” After a student took a screenshot and sent it to her mother, a team coach, who sent it up the chain, the school decided that B.L.’s private post had violated school rules, and suspended her from the junior-varsity cheerleading team. First, Giordano and Ortner debate whether or not the school should have any control of the speech of students while not on school grounds, with Giordano arguing that schools need to have some control to address cyber-bullying, in particular. Then, Giordano and Ortner discuss the idea of ‘snitch culture,’ which Ortner says this case strongly reflects, as teen and tween students turn petty disagreements and sniping into an effort to destroy the reputation of an individual. Ortner notes that empowering school officials to punish students for such speech creates an incentive for students, parents, and staff to further engage in this informant-style behavior.

Gregg Jarrett On Rudy Giuliani Investigation

Gregg Jarrett, legal and political analyst for Fox News and author of The Russia Hoax and Witch Hunt, returns to the Dom Giordano Program to discuss a search warrant executed by federal agents on the Manhattan apartment of Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani, who served as Trump’s personal lawyer, has been under investigation for his relationship to Ukraine, after allegedly conducting illegal lobbying for Ukrainian officials in exchange for an investigation linked to Trump’s primary political rival, now President Joe Biden. Jarrett tells of the entire situation, explaining why the warrant was executed and under what statute the warrant was obtained. Then, Giordano and Jarrett discuss the differences in investigations, or lack thereof, into Rudy Giuliani and Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

Economist Stephen Moore Breaks Down Biden's SOTU Address

Economist Stephen Moore, author of Trumponomics and FreedomWorks Senior Economic Contributor, returns to the Dom Giordano Program to discuss Joe Biden’s State of the Union last night through an economic lens. Moore and Giordano first discuss the proposition by President Biden for a route to universal childcare, with Moore explaining the negative effects that such an edict would bring to Americans. Then, Giordano and Moore discuss the politicking going on within unions right now, as union bosses throw their members under the bus in endorsing policies that would ruin their livelihoods.
After that, Giordano asks Moore, who had President Trump’s ear while in office, why they never addressed the issue of ‘big college’ in effort solve the issue of student loan debt at the root of the cause.
