Pennsylvania AAP's Dr. Christina Master on New Masking Guidelines for In-Person Schooling

Dr. Christina Master, Co-Chair of the PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics School Health Committee, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the methodology behind their decision to suggest masking for children when they return to in-person schooling in the fall. First, Giordano and Dr. Master discuss the number one purpose of both the AAP and the Pennsylvania division of AAP, being the health and safety of children, with Dr. Master explaining how the AAP determined this is the safest route for children come fall. Then, Giordano and Master discuss whether the AAP weighed the negative effects of masking when coming to their determination, which Master was quick to confirm as a definite discussion when determining their guidelines. After that, Giordano asks Master what she says to parents of teenaged patients who have already been vaccinated but will require to stay masked, and whether to removal of mask-free learning removes the incentive to get vaccinated.

Dave Dempsey, owner of High Exposure Aerial Advertising, joins the Dom Giordano Program to offer some insight into a situation earlier this week that found a banner plane pilot make an emergency landing on the 9th Street Bridge in Ocean City. Dempsey, who doesn’t own the company associated with the instance but has been flying for over 20 years, offers his expertise on what happens when a pilot faces an emergency situation like the 18-year-old pilot faced in Ocean City. Then, Giordano and Dempsey discuss how the banner plane business works, with Dempsey explaining the average cost to fly a banner. Dempsey also reveals some of the banners he’s had to decline, including a situation involving a cheating husband, and Dempsey and Giordano discuss how one enters into the industry as a pilot.
