Fan who got a Lions ‘Super Bowl Champs’ tattoo before the season says he’s ‘never been more sure of anything’

A Detroit Lions superfan went all in this offseason, getting a tattoo of the Lions logo in front of the Vince Lombardi trophy with the words “Super Bowl Champs 2024” in August. Now, he’s two games from seeing his premonition become reality.

Alex Chepeska shared photos of the tattoo before the first week of the NFL preseason, months before his favorite team won the NFC North for the first time, let alone make it to the NFC Championship game.

Chepeska spoke with CBS News Detroit about getting the tattoo, saying he’s “never been more sure of anything in my life.”

“I knew they were doing it. It’s happening,” Chepeska said.

While speaking with ABC 7, the diehard fan said that during the 2022-23 season, he saw his years of hardship coming to an end. While the team didn’t make the playoffs, they had a winning record for the first time in years, and that was enough for Chepeska.

“Last year, halfway through the season, I think, I kind of fell in love with Dan Campbell and the whole organization which he has turned it into, after a lifetime of heartbreak,” Chepeska told the media outlet.

Some have warned that the tattoo may jinx the team, but Chepeska says most are supportive of his dedication to his team and his dreams.

“There are a few haters out there, but mostly everyone’s been positive,” he added. “The longer it goes, the more people are getting on board.”

The Lions face off against the 49ers on Sunday in San Francisco in the NFC Championship, with the winner of the game heading to Las Vegas for this year’s Super Bowl.

Though Chepeska has already set his sights on the big game, it seems.

Trying to make it to the Super Bowl to cheer on his team, Chepeska even started a GoFundMe to help him make the trip. But as another sign of his dedication, he opened the page in August after getting the tattoo.

“It’s our turn, the most exciting time I’ve ever had as a Lions fan,” he said.
