Proving that age is just a number, a 61-year-old grandmother, DonnaJean Wilde, broke her own Guinness World Record for the longest time planking by holding the position for five hours at the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah.
Wilde, a retired schoolteacher, began training six months ago and planked for four to five hours daily.
How'd she do it?
She credits the crowd's support for helping her push through the last half-hour of the record-breaking attempt. Viral videos from the games, which celebrate athletes ages 50 and over, show Wilde planking on a platform with a smile on her face and a clip holding back her blonde hair.
One video racked up more than 9 million views with commenters expressing their awe over Wilde’s feat.
“I feel really good about it,” Wilde said about the world record. “Now that it’s done, I’m really happy.”
She told FOX Business she started planking years ago when she broke her arm and that was one of the exercises she could still do. "It is painful," she admits of hours of planking, but added she learned to endure it. She keeps her mind busy, she says, and even studied for her master's degree while in plank position.
Wilde, who also holds a Guinness World Record for most pushups in one hour, says she gets ready by incorporating planking into her daily routine and emphasizes the physical benefits of the exercise.
So, she still practices planking for hours every day. Does that mean she's going to try to break her own five-hour record next year?
"Never say never," she told FOX Business, adding
