Just 72 hours after former President Donald Trump narrowly averted an assassination attempt, police reportedly killed a man armed with knives near the Republican National Convention.
WCCO's Susie Jones reported live from inside the convention in Milwaukee that the man was about a mile outside the perimeter when he was shot and killed. "There are also reports there were two men fighting, and that's when police responded," she said.
The shooting unfolded the day after Trump appeared at the convention with a bandaged ear after he was injured by a 20-year-old shooter who opened fire from a rooftop near a rally for the former president. Many experts agreed Trump's last second turn of the head saved his life.
In the Milwaukee incident, the shooting happened near 13th Street and West Vliet Street, where Fox News reported five local police officers opened fire on a man who reportedly had knives. The exact circumstances of the shooting are not yet known.
The New York Post cited an eyewitness who said the man was 'swinging two knives toward police' when he was shot.
