Last season, Nick Sirianni became known for playing rock, paper, scissors against draft prospects. This season he's turning to a different sport, having the prospects shoot free-throws.
The Philadelphia Eagles had WR prospect Skyy Moore and QB Sam Howell both shoot free-throws during interviews at this week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, according to 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks.
"So last year, I don't think everyone liked my rock, paper, scissors stuff last year," Sirianni joked on Wednesday when speaking to the media. "If we can figure out when we get in there, a little bit of their competitiveness. If we can get a little sense of that, that's a plus. We'll do anything to figure some of the answers to the test, right? Do you always get that answer by shooting five baskets before they start off? No.
"One thing we do realize that it does, it is a good ice breaker. It does lower the guard of the player a little bit to know we like to have fun, we like to compete, and now let's get into the interview and get more of that information of what we want about your love of the game, your knowledge of the game, etcetera."
Howell, a 21-year-old 6'1" QB from North Carolina, also shot free throws in his interview with the Eagles.
When Howell was asked about the craziest question he's received and said shooting free-throws was the craziest thing he had to do. Howell says he only made two out of five, joking he's probably not high on the Eagles' board.
Sixers president Daryl Morey jokingly tweeted to Howie Roseman about the free-throws.
Moore, a 21-year-old 5'10" WR from Western Michigan, had a formal meeting with Philadelphia, calling it his favorite meeting and making 5 of 5 free throws.
