NFL Draft prospect Kyle Pitts runs apparent 4.46 40-yard dash

The large majority of 6-foot-6, 246-pound football players will not run 40-yard dashes in under 4.50 seconds. And though I made this statement through intuition and without too much evidence to support that claim, I did a little search to see how far off I was.

As it turns out, I wasn't too far off. I entered the following parameters — minimum height of 6-foot-6, minimum weight of 240 pounds — into Stathead's NFL Combine Results finder, which goes back to the year 2000. And though there are over 200 players who fit the bill for those height and weight requirements, the full list of sub-4.50 40-yard dash times consists of only three players.

That's it. Three guys... but we may need to add a fourth to that list.

And whereas Matt Jones was a tight end-turned-wide receiver who didn't live up to his first-round label, I really can't see that being the case with Kyle Pitts. He should have several suitors in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the video posted by the LEVELFORTY Instagram story just shows another example of why that's the case.

Pitts found the end zone a whopping 12 times in eight games at Florida during the 2020 season, finishing sixth in the SEC in yards (the five names above him are wide receivers) and finishing second in touchdowns behind DeVonta Smith.

RADIO.COM Sports' own Tim Kelly has Pitts joining the Philadelphia Eagles with the sixth overall selection in the draft, though he may be too tough for teams in the top five to pass up, as Dukes & Bell discussed in the video at the top of this article.
