Neighbors Helping Neighbors — A Day to Feed Hampton Roads

At 13News Now and Audacy Norfolk, we believe that when our community comes together, we can meet any challenge — and right now, our neighbors need us more than ever. Together with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, we’ll collect food and funds to help those impacted by the shutdown and others struggling with food insecurity in our community.

This year’s government shutdown, especially so close to the holiday season, has had a ripple effect across Hampton Roads. Families who have never needed help before are now facing empty shelves and tough choices. Food insecurity doesn’t always look like what you think it does. It could be the family next door, a federal employee missing a paycheck, or a single parent trying to stretch groceries just a little further.

Lean Canned Protein: tuna, sardines, chicken, turkey, peanut butter, beans
Fruits & Vegetables: canned fruits and vegetables, pasta sauce, 100% fruit juice
Whole Grains: cereal, oatmeal, pasta, rice, crackers, granola bars, pancake mix
Meals: soups, stews, chili, boxed meals, canned pasta
Condiments: ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, syrup, jelly
Kitchen Essentials: flour, cooking oil, herbs, spices
Personal Hygiene Products: adult diapers, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene items
Baby Products: formula, baby food, diapers, wipes

Low-fat, low-sodium, and low-sugar products are preferred. Please donate items that are non-perishable, in non-breakable containers, with nutritional labels intact and at least six months past the Best/Use By date.
