Bears Release TE Bradley Sowell

(670 The Score) The Bears' experiment with Bradley Sowell at tight end is over.

Chicago waived Sowell on Monday afternoon ahead of its game at Washington in the evening. In a corresponding move, the Bears signed defensive tackle Abdullah Anderson from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Bears moved Sowell from offensive tackle to tight end in the offseason, but he played just a combined 11 snaps in the first two games of the season. He didn't record a reception.

The Bears were in need of some defensive line depth with Bilal Nichols ruled out with a broken hand.

In another note of consequence, the Bears didn't make a kicking move by the 3 p.m. Monday to add someone to the active roster. That matters because kicker Eddy Pineiro has been listed as questionable to play after suffering a knee injury recently.
