Chicago will name Juan Castillo its new offensive line coach, the NFL Network reported Wednesday. He will replace Harry Hiestand, who was fired Tuesday. The Bears also dismissed offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, tight ends coach Kevin Gilbride and assistant special teams coach Brock Olivo.
Castillo, 60, was the Bills' offensive line coach and running game coordinator in 2017 and 2018. Prior to that, he worked for the Ravens from 2013-'16 -- first as their running game coordinator and then as their offensive line coach.
Castillo has a connection to Bears coach Matt Nagy, as they worked together with the Eagles in from 2008-'12. Castillo started in the NFL in 1995 with the Eagles, for whom he worked until 2012.
The Bears' offensive line was one of their biggest weaknesses in 2019. Chicago was 27th in the NFL in rushing, averaging just 91.1 yards per game on the ground.
