(670 The Score) In 2017, defensive lineman Nick Williams was out of the NFL and had people close to him wondering if he should give up football. Now, the game has rewarded him.

Williams will sign a deal with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, a source confirmed. It will be a two-year, $10-million contract, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM reported.

The 30-year-old Williams spent the past two years with the Bears and had a breakout season in 2019, posting six sacks and earning a key role on the defense. Williams signed with the Bears in the 2018 offseason as the team saw potential in a player who was out of the league a year before.

"I just wanted to prove it, not only to myself but to everybody in the league who lost out on me," Williams said in December. "I was kind of stashed away on different teams.

"I just wanted to come in here and play good football."

Williams arrived in the NFL as a seventh-round pick in 2013 and spent time on the Steelers, Dolphins and Chiefs before joining the Bears.

The Bears addressed their defensive line when the tendered restricted free agent Roy Robertson-Harris last week.
