The Bears hired Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator. Lazor, who most recently served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator in 2017-'18, replaces Mark Helfrich, who was fired after the Bears finished an 8-8 season. Quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone was promoted to the new role of passing game coordinator. To fill Ragone's old spot, John DeFilippo was brought on as the new quarterbacks coach less than a week after he mutually parted ways with the Jaguars after serving as their offensive coordinator for one season.
DeFlippo, 41, interviewed with the Bears for their head coaching position in January 2018, a job that ultimately went to Nagy. He served as the Vikings' offensive coordinator for most of 2018 but was fired in early December that season before landing with the Jaguars in 2019.

In the Bears' official statement, Nagy didn't comment on the roles and responsibilities of each individual. He hasn't spoken publicly since the team's season-ending press conference on Dec. 31, shortly after which he fired Helfrich and three other assistant coaches. Last week, the Bears hired Juan Castillo as their new offensive line coach and Clancy Barone as their new tight ends coach.
The Bears on Thursday also promoted Brian Ginn to the role of assistant special teams coach. He replaces Brock Olivo, who was fired after the season. Chris Jackson was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach, and Shane Toub was promoted to defensive quality control.
Nagy's next scheduled media availability is set for late February at the NFL Combine.
