(670 The Score) Hopes of a Robbie Gould return to Chicago this season appear to be quashed, as the San Francisco 49ers will sign their kicker to a new deal.

Hours before the deadline for players with the franchise tag to agree to new contracts, Gould has reached an agreement with the 49ers on a two-year deal worth $10.5 fully guaranteed that includes an option clause that could make it a four-year, $19-million deal with $15 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported.

Gould, 36, spent the last two seasons with the 49ers and the year before that with the Giants. The Bears' all-time leading scorer, he was released by the team ahead of the 2016 regular season.

Since being booted from Chicago, Gould has made 82 of his 85 field-goal attempts. Meanwhile, the Bears have used four kickers in regular-season games since releasing Gould and still haven't found a solution for 2019 after releasing Cody Parkey following his troubling first season of his four-year contract that he signed in March 2018.

As Gould reaches his long-term solution in San Francisco, the Bears will report to training camp next week with Eddy Piniero and Elliott Fry competing for the kicking job.
