(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed reliever Carl Edwards Jr. on the 10-day injured list with a left thoracic strain, they announced Thursday. The move is retroactive to Monday.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled lefty reliever Tim Collins from Triple-A Iowa.

Edwards has a 5.40 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 19 appearances in 2019. After a disastrous first week to the season, he was sent to Triple-A to refine his game, then returned to the Cubs in early May. Edwards has been solid lately, as he hasn't allowed an earned run in his past eight outings.

Collins has posted a 3.86 ERA in five appearances across two stints with the Cubs this season.
