(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed lefty reliever Kyle Ryan on the bereavement list, they announced Friday.

Players placed on the bereavement list must sit out at least three and up to seven games, so Ryan won't be available for the rest of the Cubs' series against the Reds this weekend. Ryan has had a breakout season, posting a 2.80 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 52 appearances while earning high-leverage opportunities from manager Joe Maddon.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled right-hander Alec Millers from Triple-A Iowa. Mills recorded a 4.35 ERA in 10 1/3 innings across two starts for the Cubs earlier this season. He has a 4.94 ERA in 93 innings at Triple-A.

The Cubs play the second of a four-game series at the Reds on Friday evening. Pregame can be heard on 670 The Score, starting at 5:35 p.m.
