(670 The Score) As a tight end with the Chiefs over five seasons, Demetrius Harris came to appreciate how coach Andy Reid utilized the position within an explosive offense.

Harris considered Reid "a scientist" and saw the same in former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, now the Bears' third-year head coach. It's what led the 28-year-old Harris to sign a one-year deal with Chicago in February.

"I'm so happy to be back in this offense, because I know it in and out," Harris said recently on a teleconference.

The Bears signed Harris after he was released by the Browns. He was the first of several additions to the Bears' tight end room, along with veteran U target Jimmy Graham and second-round pick Cole Kmet, a natural Y tight end.

Harris is best suited in the Y position in Nagy's offense and will work alongside the rookie Kmet. He's also more than comfortable being a mentor for Kmet.

"I’m always a helping person," Harris said. "So whatever information I’ve got, I give away. Because the more people you can help, the more people can be successful with you. I love to help. I’m all open arms and the mentor and will tell him what I know and what I’ve learned from other players to help him prepare faster than probably what I did or what somebody else did. It's good to spread out the information that I know."

Of course, the Harris didn't sign with the Bears to only be a mentor. He wants to play a role in Nagy's offense. A six-year NFL veteran, Harris has 72 receptions in 86 career games. He recorded 15 catches in 2019, of which three were for touchdowns.

Harris believes his foundation in Nagy's offense can help him be productive for the Bears.

"I most definitely am ready for anything that comes my way," Harris said.
