(670 The Score) Monday marked the five-year anniversary of beloved former Bears linebacker and Score personality Doug Buffone's death at age 70.

In a 14-year NFL career, Buffone's rugged play and indomitable attitude represented the spirit of the Bears and the city of Chicago. On Monday, fellow Bears legend Dick Butkus joined the Dan Bernstein Show to share his favorite memories of Buffone, to reflect on what he meant to so many people and explain that Buffone was underrated to many outsiders -- but cherished by his team.

"He was the great unknown player to a lot of people," Butkus said. "We knew how good he was. It was just a shame (others didn't).

"I don't think Doug was going around looking for accolades and everything else. He played a long time for the Bears, and what a representation of a player and a team. I'd put Doug right up there."

Listen to Butkus' full interview below in which he reflected on the life and legacy of Buffone.
