Former Bears TE Trey Burton To Sign With Colts

(670 The Score) Former Bears tight end Trey Burton will sign with the Colts, his agency Enter Sports Management said Wednesday. He will sign a one-year deal, NFL Media reported.

Burton, 28, was released by the Bears last Friday after playing just two seasons of a four-year deal. He was paid the $4 million remaining from his deal with Chicago.

Burton had an injury-plagued 2019, recording just 14 receptions for 84 yards over eight games. He caught 54 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns in a full 16-game 2018 season but missed the Bears' wild-card round loss due to a groin injury revealed the night before the game.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace on Tuesday cited injuries as the primary reason for parting ways with Burton, whom the team released after adding veteran tight end Jimmy Graham on a two-year deal in free agency in March.
