Count current Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in that company.
"I'm not going to say I was thrilled by the pick necessarily, but I understand," Rodgers said on a call with reporters Friday. "The organization is thinking not only about the present but the future. I respect that."
The 36-year-old Rodgers restated his desire to play past the age of 40, and he hopes to finish his career as a member of the Packers organization. But that appears more uncertain after Love was taken with the Packers' first-round pick.
Rodgers guided the Packers to a 13-3 record in 2019 and a trip to the NFC Championship game, where Green Bay lost at San Francisco. Rodgers is under contract in Green Bay for another four seasons through 2023 -- the window of Love's rookie contract.
Rodgers acknowledged he can only control his own play and hope it's enough to keep him in Green Bay.
"If there comes a time where I still feel I can play at a high level and my body feels great," Rodgers said. "Then there’s other guys who have gone on and played elsewhere.”
