(670 The Score) On a day in which the Bulls officially began a major shakeup by firing general manager Gar Forman, coach Jim Boylen remained in place with the organization -- for now.

Boylen and his coaching staff will receive a "comprehensive evaluation" moving forward, new executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas said on his introductory conference call Monday. Karnisovas doesn't have a set timeline for when he will make a decision on Boylen's fate, pointing out that the coronavirus pandemic that has halted the NBA season is a complicating factor.

"In terms of talking to Jim and the rest of the coaching staff, I already started this process," Karnisovas said. "I'm going to do my comprehensive evaluation of every department and ensure I give time. Because as we all know, we're limited right now to what we can do. Instead of being in the practice facility and being in Chicago, we are at home and we are on an audio call. It makes it difficult.

"For now, we're going to be evaluating, communicating and seeing how I can help them. At the same time, there's no timeline for hiring a GM. I'm going to take my time as well, because it's a very important decision for me."

Since taking over for the fired Fred Hoiberg on Dec. 3, 2018, Boylen has compiled a 39-84 record. His .317 winning percentage is the second-worst mark of any coach in franchise history.

Shortly after the Bulls fired Forman and announced that former executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson would transition into an advisory role, the team released a statement from Boylen welcoming Karnisovas aboard, thanking Forman and Paxson -- and also revealing nothing about his own future.

"I want to welcome Arturas to the Chicago Bulls," Boylen said. "He has a wealth of experience as a player and executive, and a strong reputation within the basketball community. I commend Jerry and Michael for bringing Arturas on board. I am thankful for the support that John and Gar provided me and my staff when I became our head coach. Their commitment and belief in our team played a key role in helping me establish a foundation for how I want."
