Report: Lou Henson Passes Away At 88

(670 The Score) Lou Henson, the legendary Illinois men's basketball coach, died Saturday at 88, the Champaign News-Gazette reported Wednesday.

Henson was buried Wednesday morning, after which the family released the news publicly. 

Henson coached Illinois from 1975-'96, leading the school to the NCAA Tournament on 12 occasions. His best squad was his 1989 Illini, who went 31-5 and advanced to the Final Four. Henson was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1993.

Henson also had two stints coaching at New Mexico State. He amassed 779 career wins, which ranks 16th in Division-I men's basketball history. Henson's 423 wins at Illinois are the most in school history.
