"He kicked me after a too-many-men-on-the-ice call I took," Avery told the Post. "He didn’t have me serve it, we got scored on, and he let me have it.
"You know how I stand at the end of the bench? He came down and gave me a kick (in the behind) that left a mark."
Avery isn't the first player to accuse Crawford of physical abuse. Former Blackhawks defenseman Brent Sopel revealed on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast in November that when he played for the Canucks in 1999, Crawford "kicked me, he choked me, he grabbed the back of my jersey and pulled me back -- he attacked me personally," according to the Sun-Times.
The Blackhawks hired Crawford last June. The team declined comment beyond announcing that Crawford wouldn't be with the team while the matter is reviewed.
