Setup man/closer Pedro Strop will be activated and available when the Cubs host the Rockies on Tuesday evening, manager Joe Maddon said on the Laurence Holmes Show. Strop had been sidelined since May 6 with a left hamstring strain.
Strop has a 5.06 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 12 appearances this season. He has been as a rock for the Cubs bullpen for the past six years, posting a 2.91 ERA or better each year with the team.
In a corresponding move, the Cubs have sent reliever Dillon Maples back to Triple-A Iowa, Maddon said.
