Gould, who was released by the Bears in September of 2016, is 82-of-85 in field goals since leaving Chicago. The 36-year-old Gould hopes to be closer to his family in Chicago, according to the report.
The Bears are currently in the market for a kicker after releasing Cody Parkey this past March. Bears general manager Ryan Pace met with reporters on Tuesday for his pre-draft press conference, though he did so before news of Gould's intentions became clear.
Gould remains in his Chicago-area home this offseason and away from the 49ers' offseason program.
