(670 The Score) Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham and defensive coordinator Alan Williams will attend the NFL's inaugural Coach and Front Office Accelerator program, a two-day networking seminar with league owners. The initiative is aimed to address diversity issues in hiring.
The event will take place May 23 and 24 at the NFL's annual spring meetings in Atlanta, which is held with the league's 32 owners and other high-ranking club officials.
The Coach and Front Office Accelerator program includes two representatives from each team, one from coaching and one from the front office. The program is designed for "senior women and minority high-potential coach or player personnel" candidates, a league memo said.
Cunningham was hired by new Bears general manager Ryan Poles as assistant general manager, marking the new creation of this role in Chicago. He boasts 14 years of front office experience, most recently with the Eagles as their director of player personnel.
Williams has 30 years of coaching experience, including 21 in the NFL. He was hired by new Bears coach Matt Eberflus this offseason after spending the last four years as the Colts' safeties coach.
