(670 The Score) Top cornerback Kyle Fuller may not be the only Bears defensive stalwart on the way out due to the team’s salary cap crunch.

The Bears have given defensive lineman Akiem Hicks permission to seek a trade, Brad Biggs of the Tribune reported Thursday evening. The news broke shortly after word surfaced that the Bears will release Fuller, a two-time Pro Bowler whose exit will clear about $11 million in salary cap space.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Hicks was seeking a trade. He’s due $10.5 million in the final season of his contract in 2021 but wants a pay raise on a new contract, Biggs reported.

Hicks, 31, had 3.5 sacks in 15 games in 2020 and has been an anchor of the Bears’ defense since arriving in Chicago in 2016.
