(670 The Score) Amid an uncertain future with the organization, Bears star defensive end Robert Quinn reported for training camp Tuesday.

Quinn’s arrival was noteworthy given that he skipped mandatory minicamp in June and he has been at the center of trade speculation for months. The 32-year-old Quinn is coming off a sensational 2021 season, when he set a franchise record with 18.5 sacks.

The Bears traded star edge rusher Khalil Mack to the Chargers this offseason for additional draft capital, a move that signaled their intention to undergo a multi-year rebuild, which led to more wonder about Quinn’s future. Quinn is in the third season of a five-year deal worth up to $70 million.

At a press conference to open training camp Tuesday, Bears general manager Ryan Poles was asked whether Quinn wants to play for Chicago in 2021 or if he has expressed a desire to be traded.

“I haven’t had that conversation with him,” Poles said. “I would hope that he wants to be here. So nothing has changed on that front.”

So how does Quinn fit in on a young, inexperienced roster?

“It’s important to have guys who are experienced who have had success in this league and know how to play and practice,” Poles said. “For me, that’s what he brings.”
