LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) – The Bears selected Texas running back Roschon Johnson at No. 115 overall and Cincinnati receiver Tyler Scott at No. 133 overall in the fourth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Johnson rushed for 554 yards and six touchdowns in 2022, when he served as the backup at running back to star Bijan Robinson, who was selected by the Falcons at No. 8 overall in the first round Thursday.

Johnson was an all-state quarterback in high school in Texas who converted to running back as a freshman with the Longhorns. He projects to be a key part of the Bears' backfield as a rookie.

Bears southwest area scout John Syty sees Johnson as a strong long-term fit for the franchise.

"He's someone we really feel can probably become a pillar in this organization for a really long time," Syty said. "I feel really strongly about this guy.

"I don't know if I've ever written a guy with higher character than him. This is a special, special human being."

The Bears allowed four-year starting running back David Montgomery to leave in free agency this offseason, creating a void in their backfield. Montgomery signed a three-year deal with the Lions. Khalil Herbert, D'Onta Foreman, Tresten Ebner and now Johnson represent Chicago's options at running back.

The Bears landed Johnson after trading the 103rd overall pick to the Saints on Saturday morning. To slide back 12 spots, Chicago picked up a fifth-round pick (No. 165 overall) from New Orleans.

Scott hauled in 54 receptions for 899 yards and nine touchdowns over 11 games for Cincinnati last season. He impressed at the NFL Combine, logging a 4.44 time in the 40-yard dash while earning the fourth-best athleticism score of any wide receiver.

The Bears acquired the 133rd pick from the Eagles as part of their trade of veteran pass rusher Robert Quinn in late October.

The Bears have two fifth-round picks and two seventh-round picks left in this draft.
