(670 The Score) The Bears on Monday swapped a pair of veteran defenders on their roster, signing defensive lineman Mike Pennel and releasing linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu.

Pennel, 31, has played in 101 career games over eight NFL seasons. He played for the Falcons last season, appearing in 10 games for Atlanta. Pennel spent two months with the Bears in the 2021 offseason but was released in August.

Attaochu, 29, played in five games for the Bears last season. He then suffered a season-ending pectoral tear and was placed on injured reserve.

Attaochu expressed confidence last week in how he could fit in the Bears' new 4-3 defensive identity.

"I'm definitely excited about this scheme," Attaochu said.

The Bears begin three-day minicamp Tuesday at Halas Hall. Attendance is required for all players.
