Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards ruled out against Giants with hand, hamstring injuries

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards has suffered another injury setback.

Edwards has been ruled out of the Bears' game against the Giants on Sunday and will potentially miss more time than that due to hand and hamstring injuries. He underwent surgery for a fracture in his hand earlier this week, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said.

The Bears hope that Edwards can avoid a stint on injured reserve, meaning he could return within the four-week timeline that injured reserve requires. He could play with a cast to protect his hand.

Edwards has been limited to just five games this season while dealing with the hamstring injury. It's unclear how he suffered the hand fracture.

"We’re working through both those things to get him back," Johnson said.

The Bears listed running back D'Andre Swift (groin) as questionable to play. He worked in full during practice Thursday but wasn't present Friday due to personal reasons.

The Bears ruled out Edwards, cornerback Josh Blackwell (concussion) and defensive end Dominique Robinson (ankle). Tight end Durham Smythe (calf) was listed as questionable.

The Bears (5-3) and Giants (2-7) will kick off at noon CT on Sunday from Soldier Field.
