(670 The Score) Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson isn’t as surprised by the team’s struggles in a 1-2 start as some outsiders might be.
After all, it was Johnson who – after all the offseason hype about the revamped Bears – stressed the need for the players to prove themselves on the field. A part of Johnson was weary from all the talk.
So as the Bears haven’t started as well as they’d hoped, in large part due to a struggling offense, Johnson continues to strike an even-keeled tone.
“It’s tough right now,” Johnson said on the Spiegel & Holmes Show on Monday afternoon. “Honestly speaking, I feel like for me, this was one of the things I was speaking to in the offseason when everybody was talking about the excitement and things. At the end of the day, we have a lot of talented guys. We have all the pieces we need – it’s just being able to put it together and being able to execute.
“(Our performance) hasn’t been to the level that we set in the offseason, that we’ve been striving to. So at the end of the day, even with numbers not being a certain way, it’s all about wins. And we haven’t won the games that we know we can win, and we’ve had plenty of opportunities to win them. So definitely, just upset, frustrated with that. We’re just trying to find some ways to string along some wins.”
The Bears (1-2) will host the Rams (1-2) on Sunday at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for noon CT.
