(WEEI) Patriots fans are buying into rookie quarterback Mac Jones -- literally.

Since the start of August, Jones' No. 10 Patriots jersey is the second-best-selling jersey in the entire NFL on Fanatics, according to a tweet shared by Adam Schefter of ESPN. Jones wasn't the only rookie quarterback gaining attention on that front, as the Bears' Justin Fields checked in at No. 4 on the list.

Jones was named the Patriots' starting quarterback on Aug. 31 after the team released Cam Newton. Fields enters the season as the Bears' backup quarterback behind veteran Andy Dalton.

Needless to say, that Patriots' decision has led to a massive boom in Jones jersey sales, the Patriots Pro Shop selling out of Jones jerseys just hours after the decision was announced, Mike Reiss of ESPN reported.

The only player ahead of Jones in jersey sales since the start of August is Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who enters the season with the highest of expectations after a breakout 2020 season that saw him finish second in MVP voting and lead Buffalo to the AFC championship game.

Jones slots in one spot ahead of Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who has been at or near the top of these lists throughout his time in both New England and Tampa Bay.

After Fields, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes rounded out the top five.
