(670 The Score) Whether he's judged by the eye test or statistically, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is showcasing considerable growth early in his first NFL season.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus sees the 22-year-old Williams progressing in a more specific form, as he explained following the team’s 36-10 win over the Panthers on Sunday at Soldier Field.
“I would just say the ability to get the ball to the receivers in a more consistent way,” Eberflus told reporters at Halas Hall on Monday. “That was by design. We haven't had a big game like that by the receivers yet. Playing point guard, he's done that a couple games ago, in the last game getting it to the tight ends and backs. This was getting the ball down the field to the receivers, and that was most exciting to me.”
Williams was 20-of-29 for 304 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, leading the Bears’ offense to 424 total yards.
Williams found top receiver DJ Moore five times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie receiver Rome Odunze had five receptions for 40 yards, while veteran receiver Keenan Allen had three catches for 33 yards.
The Bears (3-2) will face the Jaguars (1-4) on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
