(Audacy) If Bears running back D’Onta Foreman was hoping to stick it to his former team Thursday, mission accomplished.

Though much of the conversation in the lead-up to the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers surrounded star receiver DJ Moore facing his former team, Foreman also was taking on Carolina for the first time since leaving in the offseason.

Foreman blossomed with the Panthers in 2022, posting a career-high 914 rushing yards. He took over the top running back role following the Panthers' midseason trade of star running back Christian McCaffrey and played well, but the Panthers opted not to re-sign him after the season and instead added running back Miles Sanders.

The 27-year-old Foreman ended up joining the Bears on a one-year deal and delivered a strong performance in the victory Thursday. He carried the ball 21 times for 80 yards and a touchdown while adding a pair of catches for 12 yards.

Moore thought Foreman was playing with a little extra motivation, he told the Mully & Haugh Show on Friday morning.

“Oh, it meant a lot for both of us,” Moore said. “He got the touchdown, he did all that he could do and he was just himself and ran with vengeance. I know he was a little hurt that they didn’t offer him a contract at the end. He just went out there and proved he’s one of the better backs in the league.”
