Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright's breakout season has earned another accolade.

Wright on Thursday was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, a recognition of his continued strong performance. Wright had three interceptions and recovered two fumbles in five games during the month. The Bears were 5-0 in November.

The 27-year-old Wright has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Bears. Released by the Vikings in April, he has five interceptions in 12 games this season. That is second to only teammate Kevin Byard, who has six.

“I’m just appreciating it,” Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson said of Wright. “Realistically speaking it was just taken by storm with what he was going to do and how he would contribute to the team. But I feel like the way he's turned the ball over, the way he has had the ball on his mind, has been really impressive."

Wright became the Bears’ starter at cornerback after Johnson opened the season on injured reserve. Wright recorded a pick-six in the season opener.

The Bears (9-3) will visit the Packers (8-3-1) on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
