(670 The Score) Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman plans to report to training camp next week, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

The development comes after Goldman opted out of playing the 2020 season amid the pandemic and then skipped minicamp in June, leading to uncertainty about his status.

Goldman has been an anchor for the Bears’ defense since being selected in the second round in 2015. Without Goldman in 2020, the Bears ranked 15th in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 113.4 yards per game on the ground. Chicago ranked ninth in rushing defense in 2019 (102.0 yards) and first in 2018 (80.0).

"He's a big piece of what we're doing,” general manager Ryan Pace said back in March.
