(670 The Score) Chicago defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. has been charged with assault stemming from an incident the day before the Bears beat the Panthers in Charlotte back in October, TMZ reported.

Edwards, 26, is accused by a woman, with whom he was familiar, of hitting her in the eye and dragging her out of the hotel room following a verbal argument, according to court documents unearthed by TMZ. Edwards denied the accusation, his agent told TMZ.

“At no time did Mario Edwards do anything that raised to the level of domestic violence or any violence," agent Peter Schaffer told TMZ.

Edwards is listed in the police report as a victim as well, telling officers that the woman was the aggressor, TMZ reported. Edwards has a criminal summons for a misdemeanor assault on a female, TMZ reported.

Edwards is in his first season in Chicago. He has appeared in 12 games.
