Minutes after the 2024 NFL Draft, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams opened as the favorite (+300) in BetMGM’s odds for Offensive Rookie of the Year. And bettors wasted no time in backing him to become the Bears' first Rookie of the Year — on either side of the ball – since Anthony Thomas 24 years ago.
In the first 48 hours of betting, Williams jumped to +200 while accumulating 41.6% of the handle on 21.8% of the tickets. No other player had shorter odds than +600 (Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.), a handle share above 10.6% (Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels) or ticket share above 14.7% (Harrison).
Three months later, is the public still buying Williams? Yes, although at a less overwhelming rate.
As of last week, Williams no longer has the biggest ticket share but remains the heavy favorite and has the biggest handle share.
