(AUDACY) Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady created a buzz last week when he said on HBO’s “The Shop” that he couldn't believe a certain NFL team was “sticking with that motherf---er” instead of pursuing him in free agency back in 2020.

Since that comment, many have been trying to figure out which team Brady was talking about. Well, it appears we can eliminate the Chicago Bears as one of the possibilities.

Brady's claim wasn't referring to the Bears, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing multiple sources. The Bears opened the 2020 season with Mitchell Trubisky as their starting quarterback after also acquiring Nick Foles in a trade.

Trubisky, who's now with the Buffalo Bills, never lived up to expectations as the No. 2 overall pick in 2017. At the time of free agency ahead of the 2020 season, Trubisky was coming off a disappointing 2019 campaign.

FS1 host Colin Cowherd was among the most vocal in expressing his belief that Brady was referring to the Bears.

Others have pointed toward the San Francisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo, whom the Patriots had traded away after drafting him to potentially replace Brady in New England.

Brady also added that the team he was referring to showed interest early before dropping out of the free agency race in the latter stages.

Other possibilities include the Chargers, Titans, Rams and Raiders — although the Chargers drafted Justin Herbert and the Titans extended Ryan Tannehill.

Jared Goff had led the Rams to a Super Bowl appearance in the 2018 season before losing to Brady and the Patriots, while the Raiders stuck with Derek Carr, who has never played in a playoff game in his career.

With the Bears reportedly out of the equation, the mystery continues on which team and quarterback Brady was ripping.
