(610 Sports) Behind the scenes, the NFL Draft is always a chaotic weekend. Boards never fall quite the way that teams expect, calls about picks and players are constantly being made and all of that can be thrown out the window as soon as a surprise trade up -- or trade down -- takes place.

Brett Veach has been the Chiefs' general manager since 2017, which means he already has his fair share of crazy draft stories to tell. Speaking with Fescoe In The Morning on 610 Sports in Kansas City on Wednesday, Veach revealed the NFL Draft moment that had him more nervous than any other. It was a few months before he was promoted to his general manager position, and the Bears were on the clock with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft as the Chiefs were eyeing a move up in the first round for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, whom they ended up landing at No. 10.
"I would say definitely back before I was GM when we were sweating the Mahomes thing out," Veach said of his most nervous moment. "You know, when we went through that process, I remember going into the draft really confident. And then when you think the first quarterback isn't going to go until four, five, or six, and then (Mitchell) Trubisky goes so high at two, it's like the corners this year. When we took a corner this year, Buffalo moves up and takes one. So you're kind of wired to think that usually one move triggers a series of events. So probably the most nervous I've ever been was when Trubisky went two, when we thought the first quarterback could be someone else and go as late as six, seven, or eight. By that time, at 10, we felt good. When he went at two, the heart started to race a bit. If someone else feels the same way, we're not getting this guy. That's probably the most nervous I've ever been in a draft room, for sure."
