Blackhawks sign defenseman Jake McCabe to a 4-year contract

(670 The Score) The Blackhawks have signed defenseman Jake McCabe to a four-year contract, they announced Wednesday on the first day of NHL free agency.

McCabe, 27, had three points (one goal, two assists) in 13 games for the Buffalo Sabres last season. McCabe’s season was cut short when he needed to have surgery to repair ACL, MCL and meniscus injuries in his right knee. His contract will run through the 2024-’25 season and carries a $4-million cap hit annually.

McCabe had 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 66 games for Buffalo in the 2019-’20 season. The Sabres originally selected McCabe in the second round of the 2012 draft.
